The All-American Baseball Talent Showcase is a service offered to aid college coaches, professional scouts and players with scholarship potential aspiring to college and/or professional careers. It is not a tournament.
Skill measurements and evaluation sessions are the primary focus, with players demonstrating their talent in front of college coaches and pro scouts. Players, individually, by position, show their ability to hit, run, throw, and field. Their baseball-specific skills are measured and recorded.
Additionally, comprehensive testing--tests for strength and speed--measure all the qualities that contribute to success in baseball. Included are tests for hand strength, bat speed, arm velocity and upper body strength. Hi-tech equipment is used where accuracy is critical. Players are provided with a self-evaluation scale, so that they can create their own personal program to improve any weak areas once they return home.
A panel of baseball professionals at each Showcase evaluates the players. Every player, of the hundreds who participate in the program nationally, gets a rating. These evaluations are assembled and distributed to the players first and then, after the Showcase season ends, to college coaches and pro scouts nationwide.
Seminars and workshops are an important part of every All-American Showcase. Parents who join their sons at the Showcases are also invited to attend these sessions. Subjects include hitting, pitching, defensive techniques by position, speed development, and Parents' Sessions regarding NCAA recruiting rules and procedures and recruiting do's and don'ts. These instructional sessions are unlike anything seen at the average baseball camp and are provided to give the players a means to improve in all skills areas.
A high percentage of players who attend the Showcases go on to play college ball. Many win full baseball scholarships. Others are drafted into pro ball.
This success rate is why the All-American program is recognized as the premier program of its kind in the nation, and why so many attempts have been made to duplicate the program.
